I’ve run a few workshops recently with clients on government and the consistent feedback was ‘wow, we didn’t realise it was so complicated’.
In a nutshell, although departments are interested in government wide issues, they are only responsible for their domains. The exception is the Cabinet Office, which does have a government wide brief, but doesn’t have any delivery responsibility.
This means that although there is a drive towards ‘off the shelf’ products, businesses need to set out products that are at least contextualised to their intended department. One size does not fit all.
